Yahoo chief Marissa Meyer has extolled the virtues of its new Mobile Developer Suite which it hopes will enable it to recover lost ground in the race to develop innovative apps.

The new tool combines Yahoo’s Flurry analytics platform with the BrightRoll and Gemini ad networks alongside its search functionality to create an offer that is greater than the sum of its parts.

This allows the internet giant to offer a one stop shop for app makers that harness native advertising and marketing tools together with better integration with native video and social advertising solutions.

To that end five distinct products will be offered within the suite; Flurry Analytics, Yahoo App Publishing, Yahoo App Marketing, Flurry Pulse and Yahoo Search in Apps.

Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer said: "We learned a lot at Yahoo in our transformation from banner ads to native advertisements. Advertisers have clear goals. Yahoo really strives to take the power of ads and ad targeting to mobile. It's no surprise there's huge demand for mobile advertising."

For app developers this should allow more effective monetisation and increased reach.
