Initiative receives global recognition for workplace innovation
Initiative, a communications arm within Interpublic Group (IPG) media brands, has received the Workplace Innovation award from the International Facilities Management Associates for its newly renovated global headquarters in New York.
Initiative’s 10,000 square foot midtown office space was designed by Ted Moudis & Associates and features a completely open concept with “unassigned” employee seating.
“When we set out to design our new headquarters, we wanted an office that reflected our culture and core behaviors but also redefined what a media agency should look and feel like,” said Peter Mears, president and chief of Initiative North America.
“We’re honored that a prestigious industry organization such as IFMA recognized our efforts to create a progressive and innovative work environment for our colleagues,” he added.
The headquarters also feature an indoor beer garden, a Starbucks coffee bar, and a carpeted amphitheater that seats 250 and overlooks Herald Square. In an effort to encourage teamwork and inclusiveness, there are no private offices on site. Rather, each floor boasts a plethora of homey, group meeting spaces.
Employees and visitors have used the hashtag #thenewhq to share their thoughts on the space.
