Google has announced that Nissan North America’s “With Dad” Super Bowl XLIX commercial has won this year’s YouTube AdBlitz.

The ad tells the story of an up-and-coming racecar driver, highlighting the struggles of a mother and father as they balance work while raising their son to the soundtrack of Harry Chapin’s “Cat’s In the Cradle.”

Voted by fans as their Favorite Super Bowl Commercial of 2015, this year’s spot received 60 per cent more votes than last year’s winner, with nearly 40 per cent more total votes cast this year than last. Nissan’s advertising agency, TBWA\Chiat\Day Los Angeles, created the commercial.

Before the Super Bowl, Nissan teased the theme of fatherhood through a series of films made in collaboration with YouTube content creators and released them to their fan bases. During the game, viewers could post about their own fatherhood memories on social media using the hashtag #WithDad.

Fred Diaz, senior vice president of Nissan sales & marketing and operations in the US, said: “In the commercial we saw both parents share equally in the courage, hard work and sacrifice required to keep the family strong – a struggle many people can relate to in their own daily lives.”

Since it was first posted on 1 Feb 2015, the spot has received more than 22 million views. The ad introduces viewers to two new vehicles: the GT-R LM NISMO and the 2016 Nissan Maxima sports sedan.
