The under-fire board at Glasgow football club, Rangers has seemingly banned Scottish tabloid, the Daily Record from Ibrox and Murray Park amidst displeasure at the its reporting.

Rangers chief Derek Llambias pulled the plug on cooperation with the red-top following a series of articles criticising management at the dysfunctional club.

According to the newspaper, Llambias sent an email to the paper, where he wrote: “Following recent reporting by your journalists in the Daily Record, I am writing to inform you that with immediate effect the Daily Record newspaper will banned from attending all Rangers press conferences and games at Ibrox Stadium and Murray Park."

Dismissing the ban the Record vowed it would not be silenced however, stating: “Despite today's ban, we will continue to write the truth. Fans will still be able to read about their team – despite us not being welcome.

“We will continue to report the ongoing crisis on and off the park without fear or favour.”

Rangers fans have reacted with dismay to the latest own goal to be scored by their club with Craig Houston of Sons of Truth telling the Record: “What we don’t want are selected journalists or selected newspapers operating in a climate where they are threatened with bans for writing something the club disagrees with.

“The thought of a ban is despicable in what is supposed to be a free country with freedom of speech.”
