BMW has created goggles that allow motorists to see through their vehicle to help aid with the tricky art of parallel parking.

The device communicates with the vehicle to enable the side of the car to effectively 'disappear' when the driver uses reverse gear and looks over their shoulder. Exterior cameras project a view of other cars and potential hazards.

The Financial Times reports the German carmaker will show the new technology at this year's Shanghai motor show in April, with development taking place at BMW's Silicon Valley lab.

Other developments predicted include real-time information such as speed, car sharing information and public transport updates.
