The Hive, a San Fransisco-based advertising agency, announced today that it has hired Harold Sogard as its new president.

Formerly, Sogard served as the chairman of Publicis & Hal Riney and vice chairman & partner at Goodby Silverstein & Partners.

DeeAnn Budney, The Hive's chief executive offiver, said that Sogard's 19-year tenure at Goodby Silverstein made him an ideal candidate for the role.

“Harold has a reputation with industry peers as a beacon of truth,” she said. “We couldn’t have asked for a better cultural fit. No one would’ve believed it was possible: an ad agency with truth as its primary tenet.”

Sogard had planned on leaving the advertising industry, but was invited to join The Hive's advisory board while "pondering his next move."

He said that his connection to The Hive is what kept him working.

“Why leave the business when there’s this great place that does things the way I want to do them,” he said.

He also hoped to expand the company's reach.

“While The Hive has done excellent and very effective work for significant clients over the years, it remains a too-well-kept secret within the West Coast advertising community,” he said.

The Hive's current client roster includes Whole Foods Markets, Torani Syrups, and Big Brothers and Sisters.
