YouTube is seeking to draw more artists and creatives to its platform with a new video tool allowing multiple camera angles and audio tracks to be uploaded, with viewers able to toggle between them at will by hitting a ‘choose your view’ tab.

Designed to increase dwell time on videos, and corresponding ad revenues, it is the latest in a series of updates, including impending support for 360 degree video, as the service seeks to make itself more interactive.

In a statement YouTube said: “We're testing a new feature that allows YouTube creators to upload videos from different camera angles from the same performance, letting fans choose their view and how they want to experience your video.

“Your videos bring your fans front and center, behind the scenes and everywhere in between. But what if your fans could choose from different camera angles of the same video while that video is playing?"

A test track has been produced allowing US based YouTubers to try out the new technology by switching perspectives on a Madilyn Bailey music video.
