Vox.com, of the Vox Media Group announced today that it has hired Simon Rogers as a contributing editor for the growing news site’s data department.

In this role, Rogers will “develop its data journalism and visualization tools, and the editorial, design, and product teams in expanding the site’s interactive features,” according to a statement released earlier today.

“It’s incredibly exciting to be working with Vox. The site has become the premier location for analysis of breaking news subjects in an accessible and intelligent way and its plans for new types of data journalism are tremendous,” said Rogers.

Rogers’ past accomplishments included creating and overseeing The Guardian’s online data resource site, The Datalog, which made The Guardian one of the first news outlets to carry a blog of that kind.

Along with this new post, Rogers will maintain his post as data editor at Twitter.
