Google and the Advertising Club of New York have chosen two young men from the Netherlands, Stefan Apswoude and Willem Droog to receive the 2014 Young innovators award.

Apswoude, 24, and Droog, 26, were the masterminds behind the student project devised as a proposition for ReOrganics by John Patrick, a program that allows people to donate their used clothes to fashion students who will then rework the designs and showcase them both online and at New York fashion week. The pair said that they aimed to reduce textile waste in landfills, which ultimately contributes to global warming.

“We thought about what Organic really stands for and came up with a solution to give fashion students a chance to take something old and create something new,” the innovators said.

"This business proposition is based on a strong combination of storytelling and an actual solution. We hope to make this happen in the real-world, and it's extremely important to tell it in an inspiring way in order to truly engages people.”

Apswoude and Droog metat the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. While there, they did a semester-abroad program at New York’s School for Visual Arts. They now work as junior copywriter and junior art director at an Amsterdam-based ad agency, Being There.

In addition to the esteem from their peers for winning the award, the innovators received $5,000.
