App-based dating app Tinder is set to launch a paid-for version, with a plethora of additional features, next month in the US.

Tinder Plus will include an ‘undo’ button for Tinder users upset at having missed out on prospective matches. Furthermore, a new ‘Passport’ feature will allow users to search for matches in other cities, unshackling the app from its proximity-based selection service.

A Tinder spokesperson told Tech Crunch: “Both of Tinder’s mobile apps recently received updates on the respective app stores where the feature was mentioned in the app’s update text – hinting at an imminent arrival.

“However, Tinder says that Plus is not yet being enabled for end users in the US at this time – and the app’s update text descriptions will be edited to reflect this. Instead, the dating service says its US launch is still on track for a mid-to-late March time frame.”

Tinder has yet to unveil just how much Tinder Plus will set back consumers but will represent the firm’s first major step towards app monetisation.

This comes just weeks after Tinder acquired photo-messaging firm Tappy for an undisclosed sum - with several Tappy features likely to make an appearance in the paid-for update.
