Sky Sports is expected to end the BBC's 60-year relationship with The Open announcing the purchase of the exclusive broadcast rights next week.

Sky is expected to pay in excess of £10m a year for the rights up to an including the 2016 Championship at Royal Troon according to reports, some £3m more than the £7m the BBC pays under the terms of a deal agreed in 2010.

Earlier in the week the BBC announced it had retained the rights to Match of the Day Barclays Premier League football highlights through to 2018 spending £204m after ITV declined to bid.
