Sky Sports News has moved to ban football fans from appearing in its coverage of the annual transfer deadline following a series of embarrassing incidents during last year’s coverage; including a man waving a dildo on screen, a crowd setting off fireworks and coarse language.

According to The Telegraph these incidents have persuaded editors to ask Premier league clubs to allow their reporters into stadia and training grounds to conduct their coverage next September, so escaping the antics of fans camped outside.

Last year’s escapades prompted a total of 16 complaints to be made to Ofcom and left the broadcaster red-faced as people photo-bombed reporters with blow-up dolls and disrupted reports with shouted obscenities.

One particularly serious incident took place at Crystal palace when Sky reporter Kaveh Solhekol had to be evacuated after finding himself the focus of a baying firework-wielding mob chanting ‘We fucking hate Sky Sports.’

Whilst the majority of clubs have agreed to the changes Sky will assess whether to conduct live broadcasts from stadia it cannot gain access to on a case by case basis
