Plymouth Argyle has signed up Three as its Official Away Fans Sponsor to support the team’s faithful followers travelling 800 mile round trip to Hartlepool in the north on Saturday 31 January.

The League 2 side’s fans will be accommodated with free access to the Three network during the trip to keep them busy.

Furthermore, the fans will contribute to a crowdsourced pre-match team talk by messaging the @Only1Argyle Twitter handle using the hashtag #ThreeTalk. Three will also work closely with Plymouth Argyle to offer further benefits to the away fans.

Lianne Norry, director of brand and communications for Three, said: “No matter which team you support, the one thing all football fans have in common is their love for their club. That's why we're delighted to sponsor PAFC's away game so we can connect the club with its fans and keep them close together even though they are traveling 774 miles for this game."

John Sheridan, manager of Plymouth Argyle FC, added: “We’re pleased to welcome Three as our official Away Fans sponsor for the game this weekend. We’re incredibly lucky to have such loyal supporters at the club, who travel up and down the country each week to cheer us on, so it’s great to see them recognised like this.

“There is no denying it’s a long trip to Hartlepool but hopefully with Three’s network we’ll keep connected to the fans better than ever.”

This sponsorship follows the news that Three's owner, Hutchison Whampoa, is in exclusive talks to buy O2 for £10.25bn
