The head of Apple has finally revealed the much-anticipated Apple Watch will go on sale to the general public in April.

Speaking during the Apple's quarterly earnings summary, during which the company revealed record profits of $74.6bn, Apple chief executive Tim Cook announced that the production of the Apple Watch is on schedule for a April release.

Cook said: “Development for Apple Watch is right on schedule and we expect to begin shipping in April. Developers are hard at work on apps, notifications and information summaries that we call glances all designed to specifically the watches’ user interface.

“The creativity and thought for innovation going on around the apple watch is incredibly exciting and we cannot wait for our customers to experience it when the Apple Watch becomes available.”

Despite it requiring to be charged daily, Jean-Claude Biver, the chief executive of TAG Heuer, dubbed the Apple Watch an ‘incredible achievement’ last week.
