Buzzfeed has released a statistics report for 2014 and it seems the site has seen growth in all aspects. Aside from launching four new bureaus – Sydney, Berlin, São Paulo and Mumbai – the popular website has received views internationally, while reporters work out of 25 different countries, and are now available in five languages.

According to figures released by the company, last year, Buzzfeed broadened its reach by focusing on serious issues as well as the more light-hearted ones it was initially popularized for. 2014’s most reported topics include women’s rights, Ferguson, Ukraine, and marijuana.

Buzzfeed’s visual departments also saw growth. This year, it introduced both Buzzfeed Motion Pictures for video content, and “the slidey thing.” Motion Pictures produced 1,500 videos which were viewed more than 4.5 billion times. The “slidey thing,” an interactive feature that allowed viewers to compare two pictures, was viewed 116 million times.

The increase in readership has been met with increased branded partnerships. Buzzfeed collaborated with more than 400 clients to run almost 900 programs, receiving more than 270 million views of branded content.

Regardless of its growing popularity, Buzzfeed has remained true to its orgins in 2014 by producing more than 2,000 shareable pieces about either cats or dogs.
