Dove has launched an inspirational Super Bowl XLIX ad targeted at Dads on YouTube today (Tuesday 20 January) in the run up to the widely anticipated sporting event.

The ad, called #RealStrength, shows kids of all ages call on their father with the minute long footage taking viewers through a series of emotional events most parents will have experienced at one time or another.

This slot provides a continuation of Dove’s 2010 Super Bowl Men + Care ad which took a much less serious approach in its attempt to encapsulate viewers.

On why it opted to create such a sensitive ad, Dove said: “Ninety per cent of men around the world say that their caring side is part of their masculinity and strength. Let’s acknowledge the caring side of men and celebrate their #RealStrength as a true sign of masculinity.”

The Skin care firm will also look to engage users with the #RealStrength hashtag during the event.

In a similar sports collaboration, across the Atlantic this summer the Dove Men+Care campaign will partner up with top UK rugby players to coincide with the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Despite the Super Bowl not kicking off until 1 February, there was much buzz surrounding leaked images of Bud Light’s giant Pac-Man maze ad for the Super Bowl.
