Beyoncé tops celebrity brand power list
US singer Beyonce Knowles has topped a list of the world’s most influential show business personalities, with her rapper husband coming in at number 15, in a table dominated by singers and actors.
One of no less than 17 US stars to make the grade Beyonce saw off competition from the likes of Oprah Winfrey, LeBron James and Ellen DeGeneres to top the list all of the most bankable stars in terms of attracting sponsors and advertising.
British celebrities by contrast have failed to pass muster in a top 20 ‘brand power’ list of the most influential global superstars; with only Victoria Beckham and Emma Watson making the grade according to the London School of Marketing.
Anton Dominique, chief marketing officer at the London School of Marketing commented: “Now more than ever, celebrities rely on their personal brand as much as the talent which made them famous.Consumer trust remains a large element in what makes a celebrity’s personal brand so powerful, as is the size of the audience they appeal to.
“The most Googled female celeb in Britain, a cover star of Time Magazine’s 2014 100 most influential people list and the number one position holder on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list, Beyoncé is the epitome of celebrity influence, power and prestige.”
Entrants were ranked based on their personal wealth, sponsorship earnings and social media presence.
