A parody Fox News Twitter account has been bombarding tweeters uploading satirical content using the hashtag #Foxnewsfacts with fake legal threats.

The phoney threats were issued through the @FoxNewsPress account to users posting #Foxnewsfacts on Twitter - a trending topic on the social network since a Fox presenter made the claim that that Birmingham is a “Muslim-only city” on Sunday.

The account, which claims to be the “Press Relations Team for US' top news channel" issued a series of takedown notices to Twitter users.

@FoxNewsPress also chastised former MP Louise Mensch for exposing it as a fraud.

Further tweets goaded social media users into sending abuse to Fox news staff.

In response to the comments made on Fox News, prime minister David Cameron branded reporter Steven Emerson "an idiot" according to ITV News. Below is a taster of the tweets currently being directed at Fox News.
