Here is another look at one of the world's premier retailers and what they have done with their front of store shop windows to attract consumers inside - this time with Liberty London, which Live & Breathe's managing director, Nick Gray reviews.

There's a clear distinction between the Harrods and Liberty Christmas window displays: Liberty owns Christmas. By comparison it's the brands that own Christmas at Harrods.

In my mind, Liberty is unique in that it has the right to own Christmas. Why? Because it starts its shoppers on a journey at the point of arrival and delivers it throughout the store. Months of planning go into the Christmas shopping experience at Liberty and it never fails to meet shopper expectation.

This year Liberty has mined its provenance to create a truly Christmassy theme for its window displays. And delivers, as always, a highly creative Liberty twist.

The windows feature a backdrop of gold disks that give the impression of gold coins, some of which feature the image of an old war ship – much like that which provided the materials for some of the Liberty building. Products in a luxe colour range of purples, blues, pinks and teal have been selected and positioned to look like the cargo from a venture across the world.

As a shopper, whether you understand the idea or not, the windows are nonetheless magical, inspiring and indeed useful as the Christmas range is merchandised beautifully.
