Children’s charity Kids Company will benefit from unwanted Secret Santa gifts this Christmas thanks to a mobile web app where gifts can be exchanged and swapped.

Created by London-based marketing agency Rapp UK, the ‘Secret Santa Exchange’ uses a similar functionality to online dating sites and asks users to upload a picture of their unwanted gift and then swipe through the all the other gifts that have been uploaded. On finding a ‘match’ the user can arrange a swap.

Users of the exchange are asked to make a voluntary financial donation of £3, £5 or £10 to Kids Company to help give vulnerable children their own Christmas gift.

Jon Leney, creative director at Rapp, said: “Every year the UK’s employees spend hundreds of thousands on stuff that ends up in desk drawers. The Secret Santa Exchange allows you to spread the cheer beyond the walls of your office.”

Camila Batmanghelidjh, founder and chief executive of Kids Company, added that the charity only managed keeps its doors open on Christmas Day thanks to “the generosity of complete strangers”.
