General Motors car brand, Cadillac has appointed Publicis Worldwide as its global agency of record.

The appointment, the largest Publicis Worldwide has had in over a decade, will see the account move from Interpublic Group's Lowe & Partners, which only began working globally with the client in September after it moved from another Interpublic Group agency, Rogue after a four month pitch.

Rogue was set up especially to handle the business, however the company has continued to see a fall in sales in recent months.

“This appointment is designed to accelerate the global expansion and elevation of Cadillac into a truly global luxury brand,” said Cadillac CMOUwe Ellinghaus. “We have spent much of this year refocusing on the core values of our brand. Adding Publicis Worldwide to our team —with its undisputed expertise in luxury brand building — will further our progress globally.”

Arthur Sadoun, CEO of Publicis Worldwide added: “For us, this appointment is an honor and a privilege. We will work passionately with the client leadership team to strengthen the power of the Cadillac brand.”

Cadillac recently announced that it was to move to new headquarters based in Soho, New York.

Publicis Worldwide chief executive, Arthur Sadoun recently spoke to The Drum about his plans for it to become "the agency of record" for clients and his strategy of "transformation".
