Gangnam Style 'breaks' YouTube view counter with too many views
Gangnam Style, the song of 2012, has broken YouTube’s view counter by hitting 2,147,483,647 views: a number greater than a 32-bit integer.
YouTube has now fixed the issue, stating that it did not think it would see a video that achieved so many views as that of the pop hit by Psy.
The company said: "We never thought a video would be watched in numbers greater than a 32-bit integer (=2,147,483,647 views), but that was before we met Psy.
"Gangnam Style has been viewed so many times we have to upgrade!"
To make light of the issue, the company created an animation on the 'Gangman Style' video page, which sees the hit-counter spin and drop to negative numbers.
