Young Innovator Nominee: Henry Langer, HYPR

December 1, 2014 | 3 min read

Henry Langer

Current gig: senior manager of business development, HYPR

Why he’s nominated: Henry Langer currently serves as the Senior Manager of Business Development for HYPR, the world's leading search engine and discovery tool for social media influencers. Henry manages a team of dedicated account managers, who work to ensure that HYPR’s clients’ goals are met when it comes to identifying the right social media influencer for an online-based marketing campaign. Influencer marketing dollars have skyrocketed over the past few years, however brands and PR agencies continue to spend sizable budgets on influencer talent without any substantial knowledge of the specific audiences to whom they are speaking directly.

Henry works hand-in-hand with companies such as Time Inc., Havas PR, TMBI, Thrillist Media Group, and PepsiCo to ensure that they are taking into account the gender, age, ethnicity, and categories of interest of the audience of each influencer they approach, so as to ensure that HYPR’s clients are partnering with influencers who will deliver the maximum return on their respective investments.

Henry also facilitates partnerships between influencers and brands on a regular basis, creating both custom-built influencer advocacy networks and larger-scale partnerships that have helped to generate millions of impressions across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Vine and YouTube. He is one of the driving forces behind the micro-influencer movement, a trend in the influencer marketing world that is predicated on the notion that there is immense value in partnering with a wide range of smaller-name influencers with loyal, highly engaged followings than with one or two larger-scale celebrities with little-to-no engagement on social media.

Henry comes from a celebrity talent procurement background, as he started his career at Platinum Rye Entertainment (PRE), one of the world’s largest purchasers of celebrity talent. At PRE, Henry worked primarily on Procter and Gamble accounts such as Metamucil, Crest, and Align Probiotic, helping to coordinate partnerships with big-name celebrities such as Michael Strahan, Taye Diggs, and Shakira.

At the young age of 24, Henry has already been able to add value to many Fortune 500 companies’ digital marketing efforts, a list that will only grow as HYPR continues to establish itself as the dominant platform in the influencer marketing data sphere. His commitment to excellence and his attention to detail will bring him to great heights, and I am proud to be able to nominate him for the 2016 Young Innovators Award.

The Young Innovator Award celebrates excellence and innovation by young professionals. See the other nominees and their backgrounds and check back to learn who has won this prestigious honor from The Advertising Club of New York and Google, with support from The Drum.
