Thinkbox held a unique event which saw four award winning advertising directors, who have been behind TV campaigns for brands such as John Lewis, Sainsbury's, Nike, Harvey Nichols and KFC, come together to discuss their craft.

The panel, hosted by David Reviews founder, Jason Stone, saw Dougal Wilson, who among many things has most recently directed the 'Monty the Penguin' advert for John Lewis this year, Sainsbury's Christmas advert director, Ringan Ledwidge, the director of the controversial Marmite 'Neglect' advert - James Rouse and Siri Bunford, who has worked with KFC and Nike in the past, discuss their experiences of directing.

The theme of the discussion was the value that a director can add to an advertising project, where each panelist shared some insight into their own processes when it came to developing and shooting a campaign.

They also shared stories and experiences from shoots to offer more insight into how they work and see the production process, the use of music, the issue of whether gender matters in directing and advice for clients approaching a shoot.

The full panel can be viewed in the video above.
