John Lewis Christmas ad sees sale of penguin toys up 300% on eBay
Sales of penguin toys and merchandise have seen an increase across online traders following the launch of the John Lewis Christmas ad starring Monty the Penguin.
This does not just include Monty toys, which retail at £95 on the John Lewis website – eBay has reported a 300 per cent increase in penguin toys in general.
The love for Monty is so much that one of the John Lewis toys was re-sold on eBay for £499.
Online marketer Etsy also said that it had “observed a considerable lift in penguin-related searches from the UK compared with the last three weeks in October.”
Earlier this week, research from Amobee discovered that John Lewis has achieved a 903 per cent boost in online brand consumption from the Monty the Penguin ad.
