French president Francois Hollande is braced for further damaging headlines this time from across the Channel after the former First Lady announced she would be undertaking a British media tour to promote her new book.

Valerie Trierweiler will star on the BBC’s Newsnight on Monday before making an appearance on the Andrew Marr Show on Sunday whilst touring bookshops to sign copies of her tell all title; Thank You For This Moment: A Story of Love, Power and Betrayal.

Pre orders now top 10,000 in the UK and the book has already sold 600,000 in Trierweiler’s native France.

A French publishing source told the Evening Standard: “She can’t wait to meet her fans in Britain and the French press are already calling it a royal tour. Valerie appreciates that Francois Hollande might not be too pleased with what she is doing but she knows the British admire honesty.”

Trierweiler was the president’s girlfriend for nine years but was dumped in January after Hollande was caught cheating with the actress Julie Gayet.
