An Australian television presenter has coasted incognito through a full year of broadcasts on Australia’s Channel Nine Today Show – despite purposefully dressing in the same cheap imitation Burberry suit every day in a statement on societies differing attitudes to fashion between the sexes.

Throughout this time Karl Stefanovic’s female co-host, newsreaders and reporters were regularly pulled up for their own dress sense and appearance whilst Stefanovic’s recurring navy suit passed unremarked day after day.

Speaking to Fairfax Media Stefanovic said: “No one has noticed. But women, they wear the wrong colour and they get pulled up. They say the wrong thing and there’s thousands of tweets written about them.”

The selfless fashion sacrifice has won praise from feminists who claim it is hard evidence of double standards within the media industry – although his co-host and crew members were less impressed when the over used garment began to smell.
