Starcom MediaVest Group names Rupert Smith as UK director of comms and brand marketing

Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) has appointed Rupert Smith to its team as director of communications and brand marketing for the UK.

Currently head of corporate communications at Trinity Mirror, the new role will see Smith handle all internal and external communications and raise the profile of SMG, as well as the people and products offered.

He said: "This is an amazing opportunity to work in an organisation that is at the forefront of driving innovation and change across the industry. Starcom MediaVest Group is right at the top of its game. You don't win a Cannes Lion for being anything less than the very best and I can't wait to join the team."

Smith’s role will see him become part of the global SMG communications and brand marketing team.

He will report into co-chief executives Steve Parker and Pippa Glucklich, as well as Claire Ballard, head of communications and brand marketing for dynamic markets.

Parker said: “As we look to build on a successful year in 2014 and continue to build an agency of the future, it’s imperative that we have a skilled corporate comms professional with a talent for telling the SMG London story in a way that captures share of mind for our stakeholders.

“Rupert brings a wealth of experience, creativity and best practice and I look forward to working closely with him.”

Smith will take up the role in December.
