Essence hires The Knowledge Engineers’ Andy McCormick as EMEA marketing chief

Digital media agency Essence has appointed Andy McCormick to the newly created role of marketing director, EMEA.

McCormick was previously editorial director at The Knowledge Engineers, where he set up and scaled innovation platform 12ahead and training platform the Digital Knowledge Centre.

In his new role he will be responsible for driving the marketing across Essence’s European operations, reporting to global marketing director Cathy Carl.

Essence, which counts Amazon, eBay, Google, the Financial Times, and Walgreens as clients, has offices in New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Singapore and Tokyo, and McCormick will work out of the London office.

Commenting on his new role he said: "For some time I've been in a privileged position, analysing and writing about the most advanced companies in the digital economy. Essence is one that's doing some great things and I look forward to helping the agency fulfil its potential."

Prior to joining The Knowledge Engineers McCormick spent five years at Haymarket Media Group where he was editor of Revolution and deputy editor of Marketing Magazine.

Essence, which was founded in 2005, has 480 employees worldwide.
