Thomson Airways has asked its Instagram fans to help the airline name its sixth 787 aircraft.

Thomson Airways turns to Instagram

The airline has invited Instagrammers to capture and share images of the aircraft to be in with a chance of having its latest addition named after them.

John Murphy, managing director of Thomson Airways, commented: “The arrival of each Dreamliner aircraft is an exciting time for Thomson Airways. We love the idea of each 787 having its own identity and using innovative ways to find a name. Using Instagram to name the latest addition to our 787 fleet is an industry first and I’m looking forward to seeing some incredible photographs.”

Launching on Friday 14 November, the campaign will see the plane be named after one Instagrammer, with the winner also receiving a hotel stay for two at the five star Ambre Resort and Spa Thomson Couples hotel in Mauritius.

The entries will be judged by well-known Instagram photographer Jess MacDonald who, along with the panel of judges from the airline will draw up a shortlist of the five best shots.

The finalists’ images will then be posted on the Thomson and First Choice Facebook pages and the one with the most likes from the community will be crowned the winner.
