Marks and Spencer has recruited two fairies to spread ‘Magic and Sparkle’ in this year’s Christmas campaign.

The almost two-minute long advert, set to the catchy Julie London version of 'Fly Me to the Moon', sees the new brand ambassadors take flight spreading Christmas joy by upgrading lack lustre gifts, finding lost cats and playing cupid.

Patrick Bosquet-Chavanne. executive director of marketing and international at Marks & Spencer, commented: "The magic of Christmas is how it brings out that little part in all of us that wants to believe in the extraordinary. It's a moment to escape the realities of every day and give in to the joyfulness of the festive spirit. We wanted to capture that feeling and bring Magic and Sparkle to life in a fun and light-hearted way that spreads a little cheer."

The two fairies take over from top models Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and David Gandy who starred in the retailer’s Christmas effort last year.

The two fairies Twitter account which accompanies this year’s TV advertising push has already notched up over 13,000 followers. With Unity running the through-the-line strategy and excution the the campaign on behalf of Marks & Spencer with a week's worth of social media speculation preceeding the advert launch.

Under the handle @TheTwoFairies, 'Magic' and 'Sparkle' have journeyed across the country with fairy 'sightings' reported at Britain's most southerly school, Landewednack Primary in Cornwall, above the river Tyne in Newcastle and in Birmingham, London, Glasgow and Manchester.

So far this week John Lewis, Debenhams, Aldi and Lidl are just some of the retailer's to reveal their Christmas campaigns. Marks & Spencer's adver will air on televison for the first time during Saturday (8 November) night's X Factor.
