Hours after the release of John Lewis’ Monty the Penguin Christmas ad, Redshirt Films released a cynical spoof implying that all penguins are really stupid.

The re-dub which takes all of the magic out of the Christmas ad branded the adorable Monty the Penguin as a stupid slave.

The parody of the original ad, which was launched on Thursday morning, will be hard to top, especially considering that it was produced in a matter of hours.

Monty was universally loved by social media users following the ad’s release, they may not like the cynical tone taken by the spoof.

The new John Lewis Christmas brand ambassador was so appreciated by viewers that #MontythePenguin trended on Twitter in the UK for most of Thursday, with brands also jumping into the conversation.
