To ramp up awareness ahead of going national on DAB digital radio in January Magic has launched updated its marketing strategy with a TV advert from Bray Leino sitting at the centre of efforts.

‘Make your day Magic’ promotes the stations ‘Good mood music’ proposition and will air across ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, and Sky channels.

The creative serves as a reflection of Magic listeners’ lives with a varied soundtrack of music ranging from the Scissor Sisters to A-Ha and Queen.

“We’re really excited to implement our strategies into 2015 as the Magic brand becomes available to the nation. Our new TV creative marks a new era for the station,” remarked Tina Finch, marketing director for Magic.

Bray Leino executive creative director Jon Elsom added: “We wanted to build an ad around the great music that Magic plays, conveying how it touches millions of people’s lives every day. I think we’ve done that in a way that will resonate with the target audience.”

In addition to the marketing strategy and TV campaign Magic has unveiled its ‘Good Mood Team’ for 2015, a team dedicated to bringing ‘good mood’ experience to Magic’s target audience. The station’s Friday night schedule has also been refreshed with the addition of a new show ‘Magic 80s’ from 7pm-9pm presented by Gary Vincent and featuring guests from the 80s.

A Saturday night show presented by Angie Greaves entitled ‘Soul Town’ joins the line-up bringing the best of soul and motown and a ‘Behind the Music’ series is new to Sunday nights with big artists such as Spandau Ballet and Annie Lennox sharing personal stories about their hit songs.
