Outdoor brand Hi-Tec has created an online documentary project ‘The Walkumentary Series’ that demonstrates how walking can lead to extraordinary things.

Conceived and produced by Amsterdam-based agency this that + the other the first film in the series celebrates the unsung hero of Pharell Williams 24-hour music video for ‘Happy’, stedicam operator Jon Beattie.

With the song as its soundtrack Beattie narrates his filming experience walking 10 miles a day for 11 days backwards through the streets of Los Angeles.

Philip Brink, co-founder and head of ideas at this that + the other, said: “The Walkumentary Series starts a conversation about the importance of taking time away from everyday life. Each film views walking from a different angle to make the viewer re-think the original mode of transportation.”

The second and third films in the series document the world’s biggest marriage proposal by Tokyo artist Yassan and Sonia and Alexandre Poussin’s two-year Madagascan adventure with their children Ulysse and Philae in search of a mythical pirate burial plot.

The Walkumentary Series is designed to act as a teaser for the launch of new Hi-Tec walking products in 2015.
