To celebrate the release of the Waking Dead season five in mainland Europe, Fox Germany and Sky Austria teamed up to frighten commuters waiting on the bus with a modified ‘zombie’ shelter.

The video, called the ‘Sky Scary Shelter’ cruelly subjected those waiting on buses in Vienna to ‘walker’ attacks transplanted onto the city street by a screen in the shelter.

Pre-produced zombie attacks, filmed in front of a green screen, popped up to frighten Viennans in a prank worthy of the Halloween season.

Over 12 million viewers have watched the YouTube video, to catch a glimpse of the shelter giving commuters the fright of their life.

Topically, this is not the first time a Walking Dead promotion has caused bystanders to jump out of their skin.

To celebrate the show’s launch in the UK, Now TV and WCRS placed fake zombie-attack CCTV screens in petrol stations.

From an advertising stand-point, 2014 is the year of the viral shock videos with Ford also jumping on the band-wagon with a chilling car-wash from hell prank last week.
