Cision, the PR, social software and insight services provider, has completed its acquisition of Gorkana Group to create a PR and social software behemoth.

The move will see Jeremy Thompson, Gorkana’s chief executive officer, join Cision as EMEA managing director although the Gorkana brand will remain and all existing clients will continue to receive current services.

Cision chief executive officer Peter Granat said: “The future of PR is here. Our acquisition of Gorkana is the next step toward achieving Cision’s mission to be a global leader in PR and social software with the most advanced and comprehensive suite of solutions and services in the market.”

Thompson added: “Cision shares our commitment to providing the best possible service to PR professionals, journalists and members of the media. Joining forces allows us to better serve our existing customers while also enhancing our ability to rapidly expand into new international markets.”

Cision’s latest acquisition follows a tie-up with Vocus and its purchase of Visible technologies.
