Microsoft’s search engine Bing is to partner with American broadcaster CNN to offer viewers ‘real-time’ feedback on its election coverage.

The tie-up will see Bing Pulse offer viewers the opportunity to vote on broadcasts covering political developments from the 2014 US elections through to the 2016 presidential elections.

It is the first time that the technology will be used as part of the channel’s news coverage and will enable viewers to ‘vote’ every five seconds to relay their reactions to what is occurring on screen.

The technology will gain its first airing during a live broadcast of the Florida gubernational debate where comments can be shared directly at Bing.com/CNN.

This is one of three new features to bolster Bing’s political credentials including an extension of Microsoft’s ‘Magic Wall’ used on-air by CNN correspondent John King with its own magic Wall website.

Bing has also updated its MyBallot feature to offer voters a ballot paper preview based on their zip code.
