Lynda Bellingham, the actress best-known as the face of Oxo in a series of long running television adverts has passed away in her husband’s arms following a cancer battle aged 66.

The actress became familiar to households around the country following appearances in popular shows such as All Creatures Great and Small and, more recently, on the panel of ITV’s Loose Women.

In a statement the firm said: “Premier Foods would like to express its sympathy and condolences to Lynda’s family and friends. As the face of Oxo for many years she had an unwavering ability to attract audiences of every age – that’s why the advertisements ran for so long – and are remembered to this day.

“We salute her courage in her final days. MacMillan Cancer Support is Premier Foods’ corporate charity partner. To date we have raised over £250,000 and will continue to support their fantastic work for this valuable cause.”
