Dulux heads out to 'Colour Britain' creating bespoke artworks in towns and cities across the UK

Paint brand Dulux has set out to remind people of the power of colour with a through-the-line campaign targeting towns and cities across the UK.

By creating a series of hand painted artworks on specially-erected giant canvases or giant murals on extra-large walls Dulux hopes to show how colour can change your moos and transform your surroundings. Taking place over the next two weeks, with some of the country’s most exciting illustrators on board, the artworks celebrate stories of history, heritage, colour and culture from across the UK.

A total of eight locations will be visited by the brand, with the eighth and final location chosen from public suggestions via Dulux’s social media channels using the hashtag #colourbritain.

Dulux marketing manager, Johnny Corbett, said: “We believe that life is a story that deserves a colourful backdrop and as such this initiative champions use of vibrant colour in unusual locations to truly brighten people's daily lives.”

Supporting the campaign is Kieran Long, TV presenter and architecture critic, who commented: “Colour can have a huge effect on our environment. This project should inspire us all to be more creative and imaginative with colour.”

The Colour Britain activity comes as Dulux parent company AkzoNobel commences its Human Cities initiative which seeks to improve, energise and regenerate urban communities worldwide. Feature interviews with the artists involved in Colour Britain and time lapse videography of the site installations and comments from passers-by will feature on Dulux’s social channels.

Mischief PR are handling PR and experiential for the project with AnalogFolk behind social media, video content and video advertising/seeding. Orillo is helping AnalogFolk with video content as well as video advertising and seeding which will also be backed by Mediacom.
