Twitter’s head of news quits
Vivian Schiller, Twitter’s first ever head of news, has announced her abrupt departure from the social media platform in a series of tweets.
Schiller’s exit comes less than 12 months after she was handed responsibilities for overseeing the micro blogs news output, in recognition of the platforms appeal as a breaking news portal.
It follows a wider management shake-out at the firm which has also seen the departure of its former chief operating officer, head of North American media and head of music.
On the other side of the revolving door Kate Stanton arrived as new global media head. Clearing the decks for Stanton to ‘reorganise as she sees fit’ and described her short tenure at Twitter as a ‘fascinating experience’.
1/3 Stepping down from Twitter so new global media lead @katies can reorganize as she sees fit. Wish everyone at twitter nothing but best.

3/3 And mostly, thanks to all the great journalists and newsrooms I collaborated with. Your innovation & creativity is an inspiration.

Ex C-Span executive producer Adam Sharp, who led Twitters government and elections team, will fill Schiller’s shoes.
