Marie Claire is targeting the Chinese market in its bi-annual Runway fashion shopping guide through a 24-page insert and responsive website to appeal to upmarket women in China.

Market: Marie Claire will launch services in Mandarin

The guide will appeal to women in China ahead of visits to London or while they are already in the UK through IP address and browser language target. As well as a responsive website designed specifically for the market, the title will publish a Mandarin-language print insert for distribution with Marie Claire Runway’s 10,000 copies.

Justine Southall, publishing director for Marie Claire, said: “We know that the Chinese consumer already has an affinity with the Marie Claire brand, and given the growing numbers of Chinese luxury travellers and our fashion credentials, the launch of this shopping guide makes perfect sense. We’re already working on an enhanced digital proposition for 2015.”

Advertisers on board for the Runway London shopping guide include Burberry and Ferragamo, and distribution points will include selected London hotels, financial institutions, Eurostar, retail outlets, Chinese tour operators and selected airports and airlines.
