Apple promotes Steve Dowling to interim head of public relations
Apple has promoted Steve Dowling to the role of interim head of public relations following Katie Cotton, VP of worldwide corporate communications at Apple, retiring in May.
It is currently unclear if Dowling, who is believed to have been handed the role last week, will be asked to continue the role, or how long he will hold the position.
Having worked with Apple for 11 years, Dowling’s current title – according to LinkedIn – is senior director for corporate public relations.
It had been heavily rumoured that former White House press secretary Jay Carney was in the running for the head of PR position at Apple.
Apple CEO Tim Cook recently announced that he wanted a ‘friendlier, more approachable’ head of communications, after years of ignored press requests.
