Asos’ heavy discounting and regular price promotions have left some of the third party brands which sell through the site questioning their relationship with the online retailer,

Speaking to The Sunday Telegraph, one unnamed retailer said that Asos’ strategy is “damaging” to their brand and some are reported to be threatening to pull out of selling through the site.

Asos has an own-brand line as well as a number of high street and designer partners including New Look, Birkenstock, French Connection, and River Island.

Its online user base has grown by 25 per cent over the past year, now sitting at 8.8 million active users, according to quarterly figures announced last week.

Sales for the year as a whole increased 27 per cent, leading CEO Nick Robertson to state that that the company was focussed on reaching £2.5bn in sales as its next target.

However, Asos has refused to comment on its relationship with third-party brands.
