ASOS has grown its online user based by a quarter over the last year to 8.8 million active users as it revealed a 30 per cent increase in revenue

The online retailer, which announced its quarterly figures to 31 August, saw total group revenue increase to £975,470m although the recent workshop fire may have cost the company as much as £30m it was also revealed.

Nick Robertson, chief executive, said that the UK performance, which saw an increase in sales of 33 per cent, “remained strong”, while international business grew by 6 per cent.

"However, due to the fire at our Barnsley distribution centre, we lost sales during the quarter of between £25m and £30m,” he added.

“Engagement with our customers remains positive with a 25 per cent growth in active customers and increases in order frequency, conversion rate and average basket value. Sales for the year as a whole increased by 27 per cent.”

Robertson concluded by stating that the company was focussed on reaching £2.5bn in sales as its next target.
