As the day of the independence Referendum in Scotland draws ever closer, both the Better Together and Yes Scotland campaigns have turned to outdoor media to get their messages across.

While TV ads, leaflets and social media will all continue to be used by both parties to get their views across with less than a week and a half to the referendum, outdoor posters are being used to attempt to change the minds of the ‘swing-vote’ during this ‘in-charge’ period.

Mike Baker, CEO of the Outdoor Media Centre, said: “Posters have long been considered the ideal medium for political parties who aim to influence voters. They carry a single-minded message, they can target swing voters in a specific area, they pack an emotional punch, and they carry a strong call to action.”

The Better Together campaign has been planned by independent planning and buying agency Republic of Media and booked by Outdoor specialist Talon Outdoor, while the Yes campaign is being handled by Kinetic.

Extensions to enter The Creative Out of Home Awards, which looks to celebrate the best in outdoors advertising, can still be granted. Email Caity.Ryan@thedrum.com to find out more.
