Ogilvy & Mather has announced that Chris Reitermann has been promoted to the role of CEO for China, taking over the role from Shenan Cheung who has also been promoted to vice chairman of O&M Greater China.

Paul Heath, chairman and CEO of Ogilvy & Mather Asia Pacific, said of the appointments: “Chris is a natural successor to Shenan Cheung, with whom he has worked successfully for many years. His journey working in China and throughout the region is a brilliant one. He was one of the very first people to embrace the industry’s move to digital, and has been an agent of change for us. We are delighted he has accepted this role, and confident in his ability to take our business to new heights in China.”

TB Song, chairman of Ogilvy & Mather, Greater China, added: “We have much to thank Shenan for during her tenure as CEO, particularly her contributions to the remarkable growth of the agency and numerous industry accolades that have been won. She has been a fantastic leader and a mentor to many. We are grateful for her vision in shaping what is needed as a next step for our business.”

Originally from Germany, Reitermann has spent most of his professional life working in Greater China. As CEO he will assume full responsibility for the daily management and operation of the agency, he will also retain his current role as president for O&M Advertising in Asia Pacific.

As vice chairman of O&M Greater China Cheung’s role will see her continuing to focus on helping the agency to shape and maintain its culture, in addition to building and maintaining key client relationships.
