Neil Mortensen departs Thinkbox to return to ITV for director of planning and research role

ITV has hired Thinkbox’s Neil Mortensen as director of planning and research to develop the broadcaster’s insight and analytics capabilities.

Mortensen, who first joined ITV in 1998, spent eight years at the broadcaster where he became head of research after holding various positions. He spent the last three years as research and planning director at Thinkbox, and before that he was research director at Opera OMG UK for five years.

Mortensen said: “I’ve had a fantastic three years working with the brilliant team at Thinkbox, and I’m very excited to be joining ITV. I couldn’t turn down this huge opportunity to play a part in ITV’s future.”

Rufus Radcliffe, ITV’s group marketing and research director, added: “Neil has an outstanding track record as a researcher, both at agencies and media owners. He has done a brilliant job at Thinkbox over the past three years and we are thrilled that he is coming back to ITV.”

Mortensen is a former chairman of the media research group and honorary fellow of the IPA.
