Digital sales up by 22% as Bauer Media Group reports 9% growth in 2013

Bauer Media Group has reported growth of nine per cent to €2.3bn in 2013.

The figures, announced in Germany on Thursday, show growth in the Group for the third year in a row. International business accounted for 65 per cent of sales with the rest of the sales in Germany.

Advertising sales increased from €407m in 2012 to €482m in 2013, while sales from radio fell slightly from €204m to €203m. Sales from digital were up by 22 per cent from €66m in 2012 to €81m.

A statement said: “Both the magazine business and the radio and digital segments are responsible for this positive business trend.

“The digital business remains on track, achieving 22 per cent growth in 2013 year-on-year. In the radio segment, the many and various radio programs of the Bauer Media Group continue to deliver a compelling performance to listeners and market partners alike, ensuring stable sales figures.”

Bauer - which owns UK magazines such as Heat, Grazia and Closer - said it expected “stable sales revenues” in 2014, but did not comment on profit figures.
