ITV News has replaced Lucy Manning, the UK editor who moved to the BBC in June, with Rohit Kachroo.

Kachroo is currently ITV News’s Africa correspondent, and has covered news including the Oscar Pistorious trial and the death of Nelson Mandela.

Geoff Hill, editor of ITV News, said: “Rohit is an impressive and determined TV journalist, who has spent a decade reporting for ITV across regional, network and international news.

“The competition for this role was extremely tough but Rohit’s talent and experience make him the ideal person for the job. I’m delighted that we are able to recognise his achievements with this richly deserved appointment.”

Kachroo will now take the lead on crime, terror and home affairs stories in the UK.
