Microsoft is looking to find favour with Reddit users with the introduction of its ReddX Xbox One app, a tool for bringing the popular sharing platform onto the technology giants’ latest games console.

Launched by Reddit regular Major Nelson ReddX allows users to browse Imgur pictures without leaving the app itself, together with the ability to pause and rewind animated GIFs.

The release means people now have more choice than ever for their Reddit needs be that computer, smartphone, tablet and (now) console although it remains unclear how successful Microsoft will be in drawing traffic from the former.

Larry Hryb, Xbox LIVE's Major Nelso, wrote: “At Xbox, community is a big part of who we are. And we know at reddit, community makes up the very core of the service there, too. The launch of ReddX on Xbox One is exciting because it combines the intense community involvement we’ve come to know on both platforms with the unique capabilities offered by Xbox One.”
